It can be easy to forget all of the important home maintenance things when you list your home for sale. Once the property goes onto the MLS, a lot of home owners, close the chapter on their home and start to plan for their future.

But buyers will be scrutinizing everything about the house. Which is why it is super important to keep the house for sale ready.

 What exactly does that mean?

Landscaping should be maintained, without going crazy. The lawn should be cut regularly, fallen leaves should be gathered, and anything that is attracting from the home, like overgrown bushes or tree. Branches against the house should be tended to.

The same goes for mail both in the mailbox as well as the circular’s that can be thrown along driveways or sidewalks. When someone drives by the house, do you want to make sure it looks like everything is in order, and that the house has not been neglected.

Lights should should still be turned on and off both on the inside and outside of the home. This is good advice for minimizing the risk of theft, but also buyers could drive by at odd hours to see how the home looks when natural light is not available. Electrical timers are both inexpensive and a great way of keeping a home alive and vibrant which will add to its sale price.

Imagine a first impression of a home that has overgrown grass or a mailbox full of junk mail.

Wouldn’t you wonder what else is being forgotten?

Make sure your home looks like the fancy marketing pictures so that buyers will be intrigued and want to see the inside of their future home.
